Transparent thermoplastic

ThermoArt Transparente is a highly transparent polyester and PETG-based thermoplastic designed for the thermoforming of parts in modeling, cosplay, and creative projects. It is heat activated from 70°C, becoming flexible and easy to thermoform while maintaining its new shape when cooled. Both its final hardness and the ease of thermoforming will allow you to create both solid opaque elements such as armor or helmets, after painting, for example: Star Wars soldier armor or RC car shells; as well as transparent visual effects with lighting, which makes it ideal for making visors, lenses, crystals, luminous armor and decorations with LED lighting. Once cold, the material hardens, becoming resistant to wear and tear and small impacts, guaranteeing durability without adding unnecessary weight.

It is activated with heat, generally with a hot air gun or domestic oven, allowing it to be molded with precision before hardening on cooling, and thanks to its ability to adhere to itself while hot, it does not require glue to join pieces, allowing solid and complex structures to be built with ease. Although it is part of the ThermoArt range, this transparent version is not suitable for recycling scraps to create a putty, which is an important difference from other variants of the Green Stuff World thermoplastic family. However, it is a material that can be used with vacuum thermoforming machines to create complex pieces or worked with a heat gun or hot water for manual modeling.

For the vacuum thermoforming function, and in the case of heating pieces larger than A4 from Thermoart Transparent, a larger heat source was required to heat the material evenly, such as an oven. If a suitable oven is not available, there are heating stoves that could do the job, or also multiple heat guns that could work simultaneously.

Painted or vinyl wrapped on the inside, it offers a spectacular glossy finish on the outside, perfect for simulating armor or metal bodywork, glass, fire, magic, energy effects, or high-tech surfaces. Its low weight makes it an ideal option for pieces that must be worn for hours, such as helmets, masks, gems, or decorative elements on costumes. Its homogenous surface facilitates the direct application of both acrylic paints and flexible paints, achieving professional finishes without the need for excessive additional preparation.

Technical Specifications:

  • Material: Transparent thermoplastic with a polyester and PETG base

  • Hardness: 90º Shore-A

  • Density: 1270 Kg/m³
